Mission Statement

The Muslim Students Association of Memphis (MSA) is aimed to comprehensively serve the best interest of Islam and Muslims. Da'wah (propagation of Islam) is our preeminent mission and our methods are in accordance with the authentic Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS).

The Muslim Students Association is the veteran of all American Muslim organizations. Young college students determined to bring about Islamic awareness to the western world began it in 1963. MSA of Memphis was started by a small group of Muslim students in 1978, some of which still reside in Memphis today. The MSA of Memphis is a local chapter of MSA National, the national head of all MSA chapters.

Nearly all North American institutions of higher learning host an MSA on their campus. The initial goal was to only saturate college campuses with Islamic information but has since become a compelling force in bringing about awareness throughout entire communities. This is also our hope as the MSA of Memphis and Insha'Allah we seek your support in our endeavor.

Towards serving the best interest of Islam and Muslims the MSA shall:

  1. Promote unity and joint action among the Muslims of Memphis.

Insha'Allah we will host a number of events, exhibits, seminars, and lectures. We hope activities such as these and other similar kind will eventually rid the ignorance towards our community, while further uniting the Muslims of Memphis and increasing an understanding of Islam in other faith based communities as well as the entire Mid-South.

  2. Conduct social and religious activities in the best traditions of Islam.

Activities that will benefit the Memphis Muslim community is also one of our goals. The MSA will strive Fee Sabilillah ("In the Path of Allah") to represent Islam and all it's grandeur.

  3. Promote amicable relations between Muslims and Non-Muslims.

We hope to assist in dispelling biases, stereotypes, misinformation, and prejudices often fallaciously associated with Islam and Muslims, particularly here in our Memphis community.

Insha'Allah our group will work intensively to spread Islam Awareness and again we need your full-fledged support in this great task.
